ive downloaded a map and have saved it, im new to this so what do i do next, thanks

If you open up the folder %appdata%\.minecraft you will see a saves directory with all of your worlds.

Just unzip the file you downloaded into the saves directory and you should see it appear on your list when you open Minecraft.

You'll have to keep track of where you save it when you download it. Sometimes there is a download folder in your user directory.

c:\users\<your username>\downloads

I'm not sure if that's what you're asking or not though...
