The city of Amida (1) was founded 40 years (2) ago around a small village. First the city was protected by stone walls and then extended to enclose two more villages with a wooden palisade. The city color is the yellow and black flag which depict the triumph of the sun over darkness. The temple is also linked to the meaning of the city color's since it is dedicated to the unconquered Sun. All minecraft players will know what it is about ;)

Underside Amida you will find an extensive railway to the fortified desert city to the west and a fully functional sewer and rain water collection system.

Linked to the city by a long arched stone bridge lies the royal fortress. A beacon is shining at night through the central dungeon. The king colors is the white and blue flag.

Further to the north the strong black fortress of Tharsis protect the northern frontier. It include a set of maze and parkour trials to test adventurers. The fortress and it's surroundings are Count Delbareth's domain.

The south border is the domain of Baron DaftPixel, recently anointed knight of the realm. It feature a fortified castle build on a hill commanding the surrounding plains and village.

Current builders include :
- PtiteA2 (Desert fort and palace "Theia"),
- DaftPixel (South castle "Ebur" and "Bar-on-the-plains" village),
- Delbareth (North black castle "Tharsis" and surroundings villages),
- Avanlance, (Village "Brie-on-the-water" to the west),
- QMD/Galien d'Arcy ("Amida" city and royal citadel).

Our aim is to build a city and it's surroundings with believable scales and structures. In order to do so we focus on realistic features. E.g. all houses have stone foundations, fortified walls extends to the rock underneath. Interior structures are supported by arched masonry or timber frames. Mines and quarries have also supporting structures.
Most style are inspired from late antiquity and early medieval architecture. Religion is polytheism with a preference to Roman naming conventions.

All work was done in survival mode, vanilla minecraft.

(1) the name of the city was chosen as a tribute to the heroic fight put by the Gauls legions during the siege of Amida in 359 as related by Ammianus Marcellinus.

Every minecrafter's dream, a massive castle. I want it to look pretty more than anything else. This one is a work in progress I just make while I watch Arrested Development on Netflix, I'm just finishing the outside. Expect an update in a couple weeks.

Hello, dear players.
I want show the map that I build over 3 years. The name of this map is Saguenay. The city include over one thousand buildings, 20 km of railways and global size ~41 regions.
I founding this map clearly for testing mechanics and AI. But I interested about typical series of Russian houses.
You see some construction from other map. Because I have not experience by buildings and I must get examples of houses. I get help by screenshots of this houses but admins of these sources did not take links. What is cause holes in information.

In this map you can see conversion among different styles and technical equipment in buildings. Architecture is humble. More houses have IRL and no-IRL prototypes. Furthermore I build arrays and cannot seal inside quarters. I build with editor since 5 January 2015
Hard to imagine that more human can build in playing MC pending 4 years. I cannot remember when put 1 000 000th block of stone. Even don't recognize city in early backups. Of course I learn about placing, doing general plan of buildings. Also I forced landscape making
In result landscape has been corrected, houses reconstructed. Area under city increased by 2! But I no kept buildings quality in time. I accepted this requirements of:
- Elementary complete facades
- Construct walls and floors inside houses
- Place doors
- Place emitters
- Glassing
Architecture is simple. Where I see brilliant houses in courts? I dont want copying buildings in city center. There are two projects about this theme! Therefore, I build residents quarter in neighboring districts.
This quarter planned so hard. I could take analogy with economic: What build? How build? Why? (I dont think about last question, lol). Large part of buildings clipped to roads. Usually I built no-residential houses in last year.
So fun I got when I publish this city in communities. This city has default name. In a rush I started to select name. Saguenay used because I confirm this aliases this many a day.
Experimental elements has entered in my map severally and you could see then in storages/fabrics. Even plants has increased, railways has replaced.
Sometimes it seems what I begin repeat without editor. I feel that each one of two houses along built again.
I stead fastly applies after critics about monotone and simple style. Its my style, I see these buildings IRL.
Anyway, its better than silence. I sure that smb discover my map. I leave more links about another games, maps, RL. This map spontaneously founded and stopped. Lost months of life so scream. The main thing is not stat line or hundred stupid streams, is really global product when will exist to long timeР Р†
Every updates I take conclusion about my work. I confused that this map remained in suspense. In mind I have not progress. I falls into insanity if I continue construction. This designing is too hard. Else I get help from other mapper. Unfortunately, I cannot continue project, when know that cool MC team plans in map and that spoiled those who these maps download. One the other hand quality of these buildings greatly up. Wherever, you look around - masterpieces, masterpieces everywhere! I'm adult yet and not want study construction onward. However, I planned stop construct in studentship. But I can with confidence say about this map: it's in my conscience!
Coincidentally name of this map have IRL prototype(use google)
Thereby construction will halt halt. I will transfer this map to 1.8 (now in 1.5.2): replace blocks, add decorative elements. Who cares between spontaneously beginning and ending? I confidently answer about global project.
